Role: Worship Pastor
Time Requirement(s): Full-Time; Monday-Thursday 8a-4p
Direct Report: Lead Pastor / Executive Pastor
Team You Are Accountable To: Staff Team / Creative Team - Worship & Production Teams

Specific Role

The Worship Pastor will oversee the general music programs of the church in
consultation with the Lead Pastor

Lead all aspects of planning and performance of weekend worship experience(s).
Develop and schedule teams of instrumentalists and vocalists.
Organize and lead rehearsals.
Will assume Pastoral and Discipleship care of the worship and production teams. Some
of these team members cannot attend regular small groups due to rehearsal schedules.
Provide technical support & general oversight in coordination with the CD, and TD in audio,
visual, and lighting as needed.
Assist when needed.
Manage musical instruments and their maintenance.
Manage computers, audio, video, and lighting equipment used in worship.
Manage volunteer schedules for visual, audio, and lighting.
Oversee audio/visual/lighting teams in coordination with CD / TD.
Prepare and input media for experiences (in coordination with TD, CD, and EC)
Check and prepare stage sound equipment
Oversee lighting design for Worship Experience(s)
Manage and maintain stage presentation. (i.e. wardrobe, energy, and stage presence)
Oversee Worship Ministries for rootsYOUTH and rootsKIDS
Lead worship for rootsYOUTH and Events.
Help develop youth talents and leadership.
Serve as a resource and assist in rootsKIDS music and worship
Develop and manage the music budget in consultation with the Creative & Technical Directors

General Duties

The Worship Pastor will maintain regular office hours in cooperation with the Pastoral Staff.
Regular office hours are a value. (Tuesday staff meetings & Friday’s off)
Will work with Pastoral Staff to provide leadership of the church when other Staff members are
away from meetings, vacations, etc.
Will represent Roots at various Round Tables/Conferences, as well as promote the
various ministries (camps, etc.).
Will perform some of the general Pastoral Ministries of the church (teaching, counseling,
visitation, etc.).

Requirements

Christian with deep spiritual and moral convictions.
Have training/experience in Worship Ministry.
Agreement with the Doctrinal Position of Roots Church and their Core Values.
Ability to lead, organize, and supervise.
Proficient in church software such as Planning Center & ProPresenter; Able to use Click & Track.
Team player: contributes to the overall vision, goals, and ministries of the church.
Self-starter; self-motivated.
Teachable.
Works well within the Pastoral and Church Culture.

Accountability

To the congregation - Primarily through the Church Congregation
Advisements through the Elders & Staff Members
To the Lead Pastor / COO on a day-to-day basis. The Worship Pastor shall keep the Lead Pastor /
Executive Pastor informed of objectives, programs, and work schedules by means of regular Staff Meetings.

Salary & Benefits

The Pastoral Executive Team, at the time of its annual review, shall prepare a budget request for the
compensation of the Worship Pastor and submit recommendations to the Finance Team.
The Worship Pastor shall receive time for an annual vacation with pay.
1-5 years of service – 2 weeks of vacation
6-10 years of service – 3 weeks of vacation
11 or more years of service – 4 weeks of vacation
The salary and benefits package will include salary, health insurance for the employee and their family, and
housing allowance.
