Overview:

Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Finance and Operations, overseeing key areas of the Operations which include Facilities, Hospitality, IT, and Database. Serve as the point person for assigned operations initiatives and effectively communicate and collaborate within the Operations Team and cross-functionally.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide day-to-day oversight of the Facilities, Hospitality, and Database areas of the ministry. Overseeing the smooth operational running, development, and efficiency of the area
  2. Support New Community’s vision and mission through prioritization of tasks, anticipation of needs, decision-making to get things done, advanced operational planning for events and activities, and evaluating ministry effectiveness in assigned areas
  3. Conduct weekly direct report meetings for accountability so that the facility, database, and all hospitality activities are appropriately prioritized and executed. Also use these times to provide encouragement, training, and direction for their assigned ministries
  4. Provide on-going updates and gather necessary decisions from the Executive Director of Finance and Operations to keep your assigned areas of ministry functioning at a high level of excellence
  5. In conjunction with the Director of Facilities, Database Coordinator, and office administrative staff, develop and implement exceptional systems and processes to maintain excellent day-to-day operations and systems to support ministry growth
  6. Ensure that all ministry administrative systems are operating effectively and cost-efficiently, including all IT, internet, office equipment, and phone systems
  7. Provide staff oversight and support for volunteer teams including Ushers and Greeters, Guests Services, and Parking Ministries
  8. In conjunction with the Executive Director of Finance and Operations, review and update as needed the facility and auto insurance plans
  9. Provide leadership and assistance with New Community’s Scholarship program. Developing a process to communicate, evaluate, and award annual scholarships in a timely manner
  10. Assist the Executive Director of Finance and Operations with key projects including property expansion, process optimization, and facility upgrades
  11. Provide ongoing training and feedback in assigned areas to ensure best practices

Work Environment/Hours of Work

Director of Operations is a full-time on-site position with a weekly schedule of a minimum of 40 hours per week. A typical work schedule is below.

Monday        off

Tuesday       10 am – 6:30 pm

Wednesday   10 am – 6:30 pm

Thursday      10 am – 6:30 pm

Friday           10 am – 6:30 pm

Saturday       off

Sunday         8 am – 4:30 pm

Education and Work Experience

  1. 3 - 5 years of experience in Operations in a church, non-profit, or a similar role
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in Management or Administration preferred
  3. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered

Skill Requirements

  1. New Community Bible Fellowship membership
  2. Must exhibit a strong commitment to personal spiritual growth

  4. Detail-oriented individual with process improvement experience working in organizations where excellence is valued
  5. Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  6. Must possess the proficient ability to communicate not only within the team but also cross-functionally in oral and written format
  7. Ability and maturity to apply discretion and trust with confidential material
  8. Possess the ability to effectively apply analytical and critical thinking skills
  9. Excellent time management skills with the capability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  10. Extremely flexible in environments subject to many spur-of-the-moment changes
  11. Must exhibit a continuous effort to develop and improve skills and knowledge
  12. Must live a personal and private life exemplary of a mature Christian (1 Tim 4:12)

  1. Must have a submitted, servant, and supportive attitude in your overall approach to ministry and your job (Ephesians 6:5-7; Colossians 3:23, 24).
  2. Professional and mature interpersonal skills
  3. Must be a team player, promoting unity for the overall direction of the team and the ministry
  4. Ability to be extremely flexible in an environment that is subject to many spur-of-the-moment changes
  5. Initiative, perseverance, follow-through, and “whatever it takes” attitudes are very important.

Knowledge and Abilities (continued):

  1. Must have a strong commitment to handling conflict according to the precepts of Scripture
  2. Effective communication is a very important value at New Community. Must provide clear, regular, and thorough communications to all with whom you work
  3. Must exhibit personal discretion concerning information shared in the normal flow of church interactions, whether leaders, staff, or members
  4. Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Breach of confidentiality (whether personal or company-related) is grounds for immediate dismissal
  5. Administrative abilities are key; Able to establish and maintain appropriate standards for the accomplishment of ministry in a way that honors both God and people
  6. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate persuasively and compassionately both orally and in writing
  7. Timeliness is a very important value at New Community. Must arrive to work and meetings on time.  Must meet requests for information or action in a timely, tactful, and courteous manner
  8. As with all assignments at New Community, this role serves in the best interest of New Community Bible Fellowship. This person must have an open, submitted, and understanding spirit, should the Senior Pastor or eldership determine a need for change or reassignment
