MANAGER OF MID-LEVEL DONOR GIVING

At The Fellowship, we play an integral part in serving the most vulnerable Jews around the world.  Our Christian donors are of great support to our mission, having a strong heart for the Jewish people.  Many of them provide cumulative giving of $1,000 - $10,000 a year to our mid-level giving program.  This is an essential component of our fundraising programs and has strong potential for growth.  As the Manager of Mid-Level Donor Giving, you will work with the integrated fundraising team and others to develop and implement a plan to increase the program’s effectiveness.  You’ll also be an active fundraising contributor, working with your own portfolio of donors who view your heart just as they do their own. 

 

Your talents can be shared in the following ways:

 

To Strategize -

  • Developing an innovative, multi-channel strategy for mid-level donor acquisition, retention, and upgrade in collaboration with the VP of Integrated Fundraising and the integrated fundraising teams, major and planned giving teams, and vendor partners.
  • Establishing and evaluating KPIs regularly to determine program effectiveness and to identify adjustments needed. Providing regular reports on progress of program.
  • Staying abreast of industry best practices in mid-level donor management. Recommending changes to program to incorporate these best practices as needed.

 

To Affect Donor Relations -

  • Implementing and managing mid-level donor program strategy.
  • Identifying and building strong relationships with mid-level donors via telephone, email, mail, and events through personal caseload with the goal of increasing engagement and revenue. Reviewing and utilizing wealth screening as preparation for donor solicitation.
  • Developing mass-market outreach plans that demonstrate appreciation, recognition, and engagement of mid-level donors.
  • Collaborating on creative design, messaging and data segmentation for mid-level prospect mailings.
  • Working closely with major gifts and planned giving teams to assist in the cultivation of potential major donors and planned giving prospects.
  • Entering donor contact information and other moves management components into the donor database. Providing related reports to team members and management.
  • Establishing mechanism to receive regular feedback from donors through internal teams, reporting, and testing. Addressing concerns related to mid-level donor program to ensure ongoing support of The Fellowship.

 

To Conduct Operations -

  • Managing daily operations for the mid-level donor giving team. Regularly reviewing operations to ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Serving as primary contact for vendor partners related to mid-level donor strategy management.
  • Managing and coaching a hybrid team of internal and external middle donor specialists to ensure revenue and stewardship goals and objectives are met.
  • Developing and managing department budget in collaboration with VP of Integrated Fundraising.

 

As the ideal candidate, you’ll possess these qualities and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of related education and experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience developing, establishing, driving, and managing successful strategies for donor recruitment and retention across multiple direct response marketing channels, especially in mid-level donor fundraising for medium-sized non-profit
  • At least two years of experience managing a team
  • Possess creativity, curiosity, and flexibility in approach to marketing solutions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to express self effectively and concisely, especially by phone
  • Strong ability to listen compassionately and probe effectively to establish a good rapport with donors that leads to support of The Fellowship through increased donations. Ability to express passion for the mission of The Fellowship
  • Knowledge of both Jewish and Christian beliefs with the ability to empathize with the strongly held religious and/or political belief systems of both. Knowledge or strong experience with Evangelical Christian market strongly desired.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with direct mail fundraising best practices
  • Proven strong analytical and research skills with the ability to “tell a story” from the numbers and make sound recommendations. Ability to produce written strategy documents along with reports on items such as KPI progress, donor journeys, implementation plans, and presentations
  • Ability to review, assess, and understand financial reports and wealth data
  • Strong organizational, project, and time management skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced atmosphere with tight timelines, working on multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to also use these skills to provide effective hands-on team management and coaching along with management of personal donor portfolio
  • Sound professional and social judgement in building relationships with internal and external colleagues. Ability to identify the potential for mid-level donor program growth with internal buy-in and planning
  • Intermediate to expert level proficiency in working with donor (or customer) databases including moves management, report queries, and more.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word. MS Visio and project management software experience strongly desired
  • Exceptional attention to detail and proofreading skills
