FULL TIME POSITION AVAILABLE AT CONVERGE

(Arlington Heights, IL office)

-Retirement Plan Assistant-

 

This important Arlington Heights, Illinois based position demands an outgoing and highly efficient person who is willing to perform a wide variety of administrative functions to facilitate the running of the Converge Retirement Plan.  The job involves significant direct contact with individuals and churches and as such, this individual will need to possess excellent customer service skills, communication skills, and patience when dealing with our elderly retirement plan members.  This position is also responsible for assisting in marketing efforts for the retirement plan and explaining it to the Converge churches who are currently not participating in the retirement plan.

PURPOSE SUMMARY

Under the supervision of Vice President/CFO, the Retirement Plan Assistant will fulfill the administrative function of the Converge Retirement Plan.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Converge Retirement Plan
  2. Process retirement plan applications.
  3. Maintain existing member account data.
  4. Prepare retirement plan deposit and complete remittance journal in Navision.
  5. Adjust participant accounts once remittance has been posted.
  6. Send notification to participants who are nearing retirement.
  7. Process monthly retirement plan benefits to retirees to include checking bank balance to assure that sufficient funds are available to cover payments
  8. Prepare and send quarterly contribution notices to active participants
  9. Process monthly retirement plan contributions for Converge staff and missionaries.
  10. Send Disclosure Statement quarterly to all participants.
  11. Prepare and mail 1099-R forms to participants who receive distributions from the retirement plan during the year.

l.    Participate in marketing the retirement plan to pastors and non-clergy staff     not in the plan, including mailings and telephone calls to churches.

m.  Send correspondence to widows of deceased participants notifying them of their benefits in the plan.

n.  Prepare correspondence for Required Minimum Distributions.

o.  Prepare reports for quarterly Pension Committee and Trustee Meeting. 

  1. Process correspondence and reports for Vice President of Finance and Operations/Retirement Plan Administrator.
  2. Assist in preparation of documents for auditors.
  3. Other duties as assigned by the VP/Chief Financial Officer.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This job has no supervisory responsibilities

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The individual will possess excellent customer service and communication skills, and have patience when dealing with our elderly retirement plan members.  They will also have good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), Accounting software such as Navision, and have prior retirement plan experience which includes knowledge of defined contribution plans and non-profit retirement background is a plus.  This position is also responsible for designing/composing marketing materials for the retirement plan and presenting it to the Converge churches who are currently not participating in the retirement plan. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

BA or BS in related field; one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, to write correspondence for the retirement plan, and to effectively present information for the retirement plan in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, ability to compute rate ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

Must be familiar with Microsoft Professional Office Suite including Word, Excel, Publisher, Power Point and Outlook.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
