Job Description:

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY:

The CEO is appointed by and reports to the Board of Directors (the “Board”). The Board supervises the CEO who serves VisionTrust at the pleasure of the Board. The CEO manages the senior executive team, including the officers of the Corporation (other than the Chairman of the Board of Directors) who, at the CEO’s direction, have responsibility for conducting the business and affairs of VisionTrust. The CEO has overall accountability, responsibility and authority for the management of the business and affairs of the Corporation in accordance with the strategic plan and objectives adopted and approved by the Board and subject to oversight by the Board.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To consistently seek the Lord’s direction for VisionTrust, seeking counsel from selected board members and mentors and sharing spiritual direction with global staff and donors through regular communication;
  • To work with the Board in developing the strategic direction of VisionTrust, implementing and ensuring its effective operations while keeping the Board informed in a timely manner of the progress of VisionTrust on the achievement of or material deviations from strategic goals;
  • To develop VisionTrust’s annual business plan and obtain the approval of the Board, including the financial and budget requirements to achieve that plan and for delivery of results against that plan;
  • To insure transparency in VisionTrust operations to engender public trust in financial stewardship and to provide the highest level of service to donors, staff, global partners and children;
  • To insure the accuracy and integrity of VisionTrust's financial information, reporting and disclosure requirements, internal controls and management information systems;
  • To assure compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, ethical, and other corporate compliance requirements;
  • To design appropriate systems and controls for identifying and mitigating the principal business, financial, compliance, reputational, Human Resource and other significant risks facing VisionTrust;
  • To create and ensure a corporate culture characterized by seeking God’s kingdom first in every decision and by acting and responding in Biblical love;
  • To manage business operations and service delivery in VisionTrust’s global programs to meet the strategic goals and objectives of VisionTrust;
  • To develop and supervise the senior executive team, evaluating their performance and recommending the compensation of the senior executive team in concert with IRS requirements for non-profit organizations;
  • To ensure a culture where an employee’s development and satisfaction is highly valued;
  • To establish effective fundraising programs and initiatives for corporate, government, and individual donors while instituting proper organizational stewardship of these gifts to honor donor intent;
  • To cultivate and maintain major donor relationships including church partnerships;
  • To enhance VisionTrust’s public image and reputation in word and action; strengthening and protecting the VisionTrust brand.

  6. Manages multiple and rapidly changing priorities to meet the needs and expectations of the organization;
  7. Organizes, set priorities, takes initiative and exercises sound judgment within areas of responsibility;
  8. Maintains highly sensitive and confidential information;
  9. Demonstrates collaboration and influence, working effectively with and influencing others both within and outside the organization including staff, Board of Directors, volunteers and donors;
  10. Implements company policies and procedures, including making necessary updates to meet changing needs and standards;
  11. Demonstrates competence with word processing and spreadsheet softwares critical to the operation of the organization. Organizes, researches and maintains complete and extensive office files in SharePoint or other organizational files;
  12. Establishes and maintains highly effective working relationships with fellow VT staff, donors and field partners;
  13. To cultivate and maintain major donor relationships including church partnerships;
  14. Shows high level of market knowledge and stays up to date and connected to trends which helps guide strategic planning initiatives.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This involves a consistent witness of Jesus Christ; maintaining a Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of the ministry.  Refrains from any conduct that may bring the ministry into question and faithfully upholds the ministry in prayer;
  2. Agrees with VTI’s Statement of Faith;
  3. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills: evidence of excellent relationship-building and maintenance at all levels;
  4. Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills;
  5. Has successful track record managing people and ministry or business;
  6. Has a postgraduate degree and a minimum of five years in senior executive position or 12+ years of relevant work experience in ministry or business with demonstrated success;
  7. Possesses excellent organizational skills;
  8. Shows skill in teaching/coaching/motivating others;
  9. Proven financial and business acumen, including management of $3M annual budget and above;
  10. Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities;
  11. Successful track record with fundraising and development as core responsibility;
  12. Models a leadership style of teamwork and collaboration.

 

Preferred:

  1. Previous non-profit or international missions experience;
  2. Nonprofit Board Experience;
  3. Financial audit experience.
